I don't see the point , the world is coming to end in 2012!

Recycling is good. Reduce, good. Reuse, good. Recycle, good. Of course curbing the population would be better...but you can't murder a third of the world's citizens, reproduction licensing has yet to be put into effect and people like humping way too much. Since generations of doucebags raped the natural world for hundreds of years, we are now desperately trying to dig ourselves out of the gigantic environmental hole we've created for the generations to come. Do I recycle? No I'm one of those douchebags. Why don't I recycle? Simple. It's a change of lifestyle that I'm just too lazy to do. There are so many things you have to adhere to. The fact that I'm using this laptop to blog right now is hurting the environment. Here are some of the things that one is expected to do to reduce one's carbon footprint....

Instead of using your car: walk, ride a bicycle, ride an electric scooter or a moped, ride a motorcycle, take public transit, carpool, drive an electric car or stay home.

Use biodegradable soaps, shampoo, conditioner, laundry products, cleaning products, paper products including toilet paper. Even my tampon box is recycled...when will my tampons be?

Shower less. If it's yellow let it mellow. Make sure to plug up the rinse sink when doing dishes so you won't waste water there. Have a rain barrel if you like to garden.

Use natural products, like baking soda and vinegar, as often as possible.

Reusable shopping bags. Reusable containers for the Kid's lunch.

Compost. Which means I have to save the stuff in my freezer and then bring it to a friend's house to use their composter because I live in an apartment. Which is one of the buildings I'm sure that are very environmentally unfriendly by nature anyway.

Turn off my lights all the time.

I should be receiving all my bills electronically.

Cook less. And buy only local foods or grow my own.

I can't even use the dish soap I prefer because it alters the sex of the fish in our waterways.

And there's probably a hundred other things that I can't even think of that I could be doing to help the environment. Everything I do or don't do is ruining the environment. Since there are not enough trees because of clearcutting, the fact that I'm alive and breathing is damaging. If I were to die, my rotting corpse would be seeping into the ground water and contaminating it. I can't win. So for the longest time I didn't bother. But I should bother at least a little. I don't have to be an environmentalist but I could put out my cardboard, glass and plastics. I'll turn off my lights. I'll use less water. I won't drive as much. I'll say YES to making an effort. If all of us did only one thing it would make a difference after all.

Now that I've decided to be less of an environmental douche, this is what my kitchen/dining room looks like...

Damn tree huggers....

  1. I know it can be hard to "go green" especially if you live in a apartment or condo and they don't have a recycle pick up. We do recycle now and I feel better about it but seriously what if the world does end in 2012? Haha! Have you heard about all the birds that simultaneously feel out of the sky DEAD? It happpened in 2 different states here and then it happened in Italy. Hmmm...Signs? Yes, I think so! :)
